Our faded hopes!

“Jeetyga bhi jeetyga Pakistan jeetyga” “Pakistan will win only Pakistan will win”, “Ya Allah! Pakistan semi final mein India se jeet jaye” “O Allah! Pakistan will win in semi-final against India”, “Bas India har jaye!”; “India will lose!”
These were some of the wishes that every tongue was asking from God before the so called India-Pak semi final match. There was a great enthusiasm among the people; whole nation was united for a single common cause and many of us was so much sure for the victory of Pakistan that most of us had already celebrated Pakistan’s victory before the semi-final. This was our blind trust over Pakistani players that they will never let us down. After all they were on the top ranking.
On the other hand, most of us arranged dua for Pakistan’s victory, in their school, colleges or universities. I am one of them.
A day before the match, my department (mass-communication) arranged a dua for Pakistan’s victory, in which we all students participated and prayed; wearing green duppattas, green bangles, nails and face painted with national flag, stars etc participated in the dua. These were the most memorable moments of my life. I will never forget them. This is the world cup that I am enjoying in my complete mature senses. Everyone was damn sure for the victory of Pakistan. The fun, celebration and hopes, not ended at this moment. It continued within in my van. Yup! In van Jazba junoon, hai koi hum jaisa, stand up for the champions was turned on in high volume. We were repeating the lyrics and enjoying. Our hopes were so so high. I can say that my hopes were touching the sky but I was unfamiliar with the reality that many of our players have already sold and my hopes were going to crush into little pieces after watching the semi-final.
Moreover, we all changed out facebook profile pictures into green as if it was a national day but after defeat, the first task we did was to change the facebook display picture.

Me and my friends

Golden glories:

In spite of all the reasons behind Pakistan’s defeat, we can’t neglect the golden glories that our team brings on the Mohali ground. The rough and hard ground of Mohali turns into a blessing or you can say that the ground turn into a millionaire of blessings, when Pakistan team offer Magrib prayer on the ground. The spiritual energy spread over the whole green carpet. Every piece of grass was repeating the name of Allah Almighty

Second, the Sajda done by Wahab Riaz after taking 5th (fifth) wicket of Zaheer Khan. As a Muslim and Pakistani, I feel proud in fact not only me all the Pakistanis feel proud when our player pass these religious gestures.

Wahab Riaz does the sajda after taking 5/46. Zaheer Khan was his fifth wicket

Another, golden event whose credit goes to Afridi, due to his efforts we made it to the semi-final and because of him Pakistan national anthem was sung in whole stadium which was a great honor for our nation.

Unfairness:

A lot of unfairness was done in the match. Majority people sitting in the ground were against Pakistan and were supporting India. Indian crowd was huge. On every four or sixes, song chakde India was playing. The noise of crowd and these songs played a great role to buck up the team and there wasn’t any noise or song for Pakistani team. On out of every Indian player, there was complete silence in the ground.
Tendulkar wasn’t so much lucky, umpires made him lucky. They gave number of shot reviews to him. Moreover, our own players dropped his catches a number of time.

The day of great disappointment:

At the time of toss, I felt something in my heart little shocked too; when India won the toss and got the chance to bat first. But I was soon calm down because I trusted my Pakistani Shaheens, they will not allow India to make runs but I was wrong.
Before the start of match, Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani shake hand with Indian cricket team and Prime minter of India Dr Manmohan Singh shake hand with our Shaheens, that was a good gesture.
India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and Pakistan's Prime Minister, Yousaf Raza Gillani, shake hands with members of India's cricket team, before the start of the World Cup Semi-Final match between India and Pakistan in Mohali

India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and Pakistan's Prime Minister, Yousaf Raza Gillani, shake hands with members of India's cricket team, before the start of the World Cup Semi-Final match between India and Pakistan in Mohali

Match was started, it was more looking like a battle field then a cricket field, aggression was flowing out of the eyes of every Indian player.
No doubt, Indian players played well or in other words our Shaheens gave them chance to play more. Our players were trying to take strokes although they knew that it’s not the time to take big shots. They should take runs on every ball, in spite of giving ball in the hand of Indian players. Misbah-ul-Haq was not in the mood to take run. It was like he has taken an oath not to take any run. He only wanted to complete his half century thats it. Apart from him there were many players who were not interested to play.
At the end Afridi was sad. Well for me Afridi is a very good captain. At least under his captaincy our team made it to the semi-final. We love you captain.
But on the other hand, my mind is saying that its may be a trick to grab the emotional sympathy of nation. No doubt our nation is very emotional and most of them are supporting Afridi after his apologies to nation.
We can forgive our team but the people who have done suicides and who got injured due to firing incidents and a number of people who made it to go India to watch match. They have spent all their life time earnings on ticket. Who will pay back the precious loss of lives? Who will pay the medical bill of the injured people? Who will pay back the life time earning of poor people? No one will take the responsibility!

  8. It is natural for any Pakistani to support his team as every Indian will support his team. But it is Pakistani team alone which evokes almighty Allah for a win.Wahab riaz does a sajda but it is almighty Allah whom Indian Zaheer Khan also worships. Did the win by India convey any meaning to people of Pakistan? Cricket is a just a sport and it is media which has created this frenzy for its own purposes in both countries.
