Golden Daughters of Pakistan

Naseem Hameed

We are living in a male dominating society in which females are gradually creating a revolution. Now women are present in every field, whether it is army, navy, sports or politics. Golden ladies of Pakistan have proved themselves by their tremendous performance in their fields that they are not behind any one. Naseem Hameed won gold medal and the title of fastest South Asian woman and the victory of Pakistan’s women cricket team can’t be neglected. However, in Pakistan women sport has not given the importance that usually gives to men. Men’s sport is mostly highlighted in our country as compare to women sport.

Pakistan women's cricket team

At the time of T-20 championship 2009 and recent World Cup 2011, everyone was stickled to the television screens to watch the semi final and final but there hasn’t much buzz for the women cricket team. Infact we don’t know the names of Pakistani women cricketers before the victory but now their names are flashing on the news same as with Naseem Hameed. We didn’t hear her name before but after her achievement we could recognize the daughter of Pakistan. Is it necessary to win for recognition? I think it’s not. On the other hand, from corruption till the match fixing all issues regarding men’s sports are highlighted in media but no place for women.
Proud of Pakistan

Game is the name of win and lose one team has to defeated by other but it doesn’t mean that the defeated team or person didn’t worked hard. It's very difficult to participate and match the level of game. In this situation if a player participated we should encourage her/him, win and defeat is in the hand of God. We should recognize and appreciate the players so that youngsters follow them as their role model. There are many young girls in Pakistan who want to win gold medals for their county but they don’t have any role model to follow and again in male dominating society, parents don’t let their daughters to go out and play in front of men but now there are role models for young girls and parents are also satisfied regarding their security and other issues.

Women like Naseem Hameed, Sana Mir and her team are not rare in Pakistan. Pakistan is the land of talent. Our homeland is full of talent regarding any field. We don’t have proper platforms. In other words, we have gold but no proper jewelers to shape the raw gold into beautiful ornaments. We should come out from ethnicitical barriers and work for our nation and give all our support to women sports.

  3. Noor,

One should play game for sake of spirit of Sports. Winning or losing should not deter one from trying hard to improve. Equal importance should be given to women also in all fields. Or rather equal rights is good for progress of any nation.

    Take care
