The splash of colors in JUW

wajood-e-zan se hai tasweer-e-kainat me rang", just have a look around , at every glance you will find the colors of natures spread in this world. The colors might be the sparkle of earring or nose ring, the chan chan sound of bangles or anklets hence, the beauty of this world is incomplete without women. Colors are usually associated with women and a festival of colors is the best event that a woman can enjoy. In this regard, an annual Mela was arranged on 24th March in Jinnah University for women (JUW).
Women have the power to soften the hard heart. She can colorize the world with her paint brush so as she did at this event by turning out the dull University building into a dancing diva that was kept roaring with songs of joy and laughter of girls the whole day. Like every year, Mela was organized in JUW by the administration which was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor Dr. Naeem Farooqi. It was the event in which students were allowed to come along with their female family members, relatives and friends in informal dressing as the students are restricted to wear uniform in normal days so one day freedom to wear dress according to their wish was worth and every girl has taken full advantage of this freedom by wearing multi-color dresses and accessories.

The stalls of face painting, mehindi, nail art and accessories were the most crowded ones. Some girls were busy in putting mehindi tattoos on their hands while others were having a beautiful painting on their faces and decorating their nails by elegant designs. On the other hand some girls were enjoying the ride of dragon swing and merry-go-round. There were stalls by Tapal tea, Lemon max products, largess pizza, Roche tooth paste who were conducting lucky draws that keep amusing the audience throughout the mela while Tapal tea and Max products offered games and distributed prizes too.

The success of a mela depends on its food stalls and the king food item of any mela is Chatpatti chaat that is the most enjoyable food item by the spicy girls. There were multiple stalls that were offering chaat item. In spite of chaat, barbeque, pizza, pasta, macaroni, spaghetti, new town snacks and Karachi food items were also present. The weather of Karachi is getting hot day by day so celebration of mela in summers is incomplete without gola gunda, a colorful juicy and icy lolly enjoyed by everyone along with those juices and cold drinks stalls were also present.

Many news and political personalities visited the mela that include: Provincial Minister for Women Development, Sindh, Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto who while expressing her views said; “In a women university such activities are very appreciable as I believe another Naseem Hameed and Kiran Khan is among them”. On the other hand, anchor Waseem Badami said “It’s the time when majority of women colleges and schools are getting blown up so girls’ activities in such circumstances are appreciable because they pass positive sign”. In spite of them RJ Alina Chaudary from FM 101 and Farhan Qureshi also visited the event

Extracurricular activities along with studies are necessary for students that give them entertainment and recharge them to face up-coming educational difficulties and such melas in a Women University develop self confidence in women.
