The monster of exams usually gulps our hunger and sleep. The whole routine got disturbed, on breakfast time we use to sleep, we skip lunch and at dinner time we eat carelessly and remain awake the whole night in order to study. I witnessed the same situation during my exams.

It was my final exam, the fear was high and the craze of learning everything within minutes was on its full swing. I was complete submerged in the studies to the extent that a night before exam I remained awake and slept only for 2 hours. I revised the already learned stuff again and again.

In the morning my mind was completely jam and sleepy. I drank two cups of tea in order to gain the consciousness. Once again, I revised the whole course and got myself ready for the exam. Entering in the examination hall, I assure myself that I can do the paper and will secure full marks because I have learned everything by heart but all my assurance was ruined when I saw the question paper. It was all opinion based paper. I got shivered because I have learned all the questions by heart without understanding the central idea so I was not in the position to do the critical analysis on the asked questions.

At that movement, the voice of my primary teacher reverberates in my ears that once you have understand the basic meaning of a lesson you don’t have to learn it and avoid the pattern learning by heart because if you forget one word then the whole paragraph will evaporate from your mind.

From that day I realized that learning lecture by heart will give nothing because we will forget it immediately after exams but once we understand the real meanings it will remain stick in our mind for the lifetime. Moreover, in professional life, during interview your boss will not ask the answers of course questions he/she will judge you on the base of your knowledge and talent. So work on your qualification success will come automatically.

                                  The real spirit of sacrifice

Allah has blessed us with two pearls of Eid, one is Eid-ul-Fitr which is also known as “Meethi Eid” (sweet Eid) and other is Eid-ul-Azha that is also known as “Bari Eid” (big Eid). Meethi Eid is the reward of the religious deeds that one has done in the month of Ramadan, where as Eid-ul-Azha has its own history. Muslim celebrates this occasion in the memory of Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) and Hazrat Ismail (A.S). It revives the spirit of sacrifice in every soul because Eid-ul-Azha is the spirit of laying down your beloved thing in the way of God as Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) did. Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) is Allah’s Prophet who was ordered to sacrifice His most beloved thing in the way of Allah to do so he decided to sacrifice His son Hazrat Ismail (A.S). When he was sacrificing His son suddenly a sheep came instead of Hazrat Ismail (A.S) and He slaughtered it. Being a Muslim, we follow His Sunnah without any ostentation.

According to the Islamic calendar, Muslim celebrates Eid-ul-Azha on 10 Zilhaj of every year, after completion the 5th pillar of Islam, Hajj (the annual pilgrimage). Muslims around the world, dressed in the same simple white cloth commonly known as “Ahraam”, regardless of their language, nationality, social status, color and race all of them stand in front of God and perform Hajj.

Eid is another name of happiness whether it’s Bari or Meethi Eid both of them brings joy in shape of parties. Following are the things that are especially associated with Eid-ul-Azha:

1. Sacrifice/ Qurbani:

Eid-ul-Azha is all about animals and their sacrifice. Kids are fond of Eid-ul-Azha as they keep waiting for this occasion whole year because this occasion brings animals at every house and if Mr. Camel has arrived to one house then the crowd of kids will keeping visiting the house everyday till the camel sacrificed. These animals include: cows, goats, sheeps, and camels. People sacrifice animals according to their capacity. This act should be pure and only to seek pleasure of God but ironically, people buy healthy, wealthy animals to display them.

2. Cattle market:

Cattle markets are another charm of this event. Markets to sell animals are use to settle in open areas usually on highways where animals from all over Pakistan brought for the holy purpose of sacrifice.

3. Sizzling BBQ parties:

BBQ is the most delicious, common and mouth watering dish of Eid-ul-Azha. Once the animal sacrificed, BBQ preparation starts. Marinating the meat with the spicy and sizzling desi masala (spices) for hours and taking it out at the time of party, threading the meat pieces in the spit and cooking them on the grills is another fun activity enjoyed by the whole family members.

4. Vermicelli and sheer khurma:

Eating Vermicelli, sheer khurma, any kind of some sweet or odd number of dates in short eat sweet food before going for Eid prayer is Sunnah of Mohammed (S.A.A.W). Vermicelli and sheer khurma is supposed to be of the most important dish in Eid’s breakfast.

5. Eidi:

Eidi is something that is the most favorite and important part of Eid for every Muslim. From kids to elders everyone loves to have eidi on Eid day. It’s cash money that is given to kids by elders as an Eid gift. On Eid day kids ask eidi from their grand parents and other relatives then they buy different things or do party from the money but some of them store it and save money.

6. Sweets:

Sweets are something that can’t be neglected. Eid without sweets is incomplete. The soft stuffed circles dipped into sugary water then coated with dry fruits and chopped coconut make a person’s mouth watered. Sweets are one of the prime element in Eid’s lunch and dinner. People present sweets to their relatives and guest when they visit their home on Eid day.

Eid-ul-Azha is all about the spirit of sacrificing the most beloved and precious thing in the way of Allah Almighty. It teaches us sharing as we share the meat with needy people. There are number of people who keep the meat in their freezer whole year instead of sharing it with the needy and only at the end of the year they offered the meat to the poor. This is a very wrong practice because Islam teaches us brotherhood. Mohammed (S.A.W.W) said "You will not be a believer until you love for your brother what you love for yourself" (Sahih Al-Bukhari). So on this Eid, along the distribution of meat with friends and neighbor remembers the needy. Eid Mubarak everyone :)

                         Let's start sharing with parents

Sharing, tips, sharing advice, sharing secrets, sharing ideas, sharing jokes and laughter, thus everyone shares a lot of stuff with family, friends, fellows and coworkers etc. In fact everyone uses word “share” once in a whole day. In school, offices you share lunch with your friends and coworkers, your teachers or elders share tips and advice with you, you share your secrets and jokes with your friends. Sharing is necessary in every relationship whether it’s between mother and a kid, teacher and a student or boss or an employee. Sharing strengthens the love bond.

The world is running with a horse speed as time is flying like an aeroplane, large technologies are becoming small thus fitting inside one’s palms. The world is getting digital so as young generation, everyone has personal, cell phone, laptops, now there’s no need to have a big PC to use internet as its present in everyone’s cell phone. Ironically the world is shrinking through social networking sites but distance between parents and children are increasing. Social networking sites have decreased distance between you and your friend sitting in America to whom you share your everyday happenings, your unpleasant experiences, your chit chat with your friends, your secrets in shorts all the stuff that you should share with your mother first. Sharing your whereabouts with your friends is not bad but how can your trust your friends more than your parents?

Many children scare for sharing their everyday activities with their parents because they think, parents will scold them. Therefore, they buried their unpleased experiences in depth of their hearts as a result they remain disturb. No doubt, you can share it with your friends but they will only listen to your stories. They won’t give you any solution. The key of solution is present in parent’s advice. Here, you know where the key is present, now go and unlock the locks of your hearts in front of your parents.

If you have a crush or your girl/boy friend has just left you or your friend is entangled into bad activities or they smoke or they talk nonsense and discuss unpleasant topics tell your parents. Share it with them. It will save you from bad company and your friends too from involving further into bad activities.

If you don’t share your secrets due to the fear of offensive remarks pass by your parents then all I can say is to be brave. If you have guts to do unallowed stuff then you should develop guts to face the consequences.

“Early to sleep early to rise makes a person healthy, wealthy and wise.” A number of times, we have listened this quote in our life but we didn’t analyze it. Early sleeping and early rising can make you wise but for having a slim and smart body, eating properly on time is very important. Therefore, the food is divided into four shifts; breakfast, lunch, supper and dinner. Do you amuse your tummy by the four trips of food? I am sure most of you will only nod for the dinner because life is very fast, therefore most of us only go for dinner.

Ironically, it should be the most important task of the day but it is the most ignored one. Breakfast is the main power station that fuels up you for everyday activity or you can say that the more heavy breakfast you take the more time your tummy will remain filled.

There are a number of tummy friendly breakfast snacks are available in the market but the tastiest and most hygienic snack is the one that your mother cooks at home. However, the breakfast menu is very vast which differs from culture to culture. Many people like to eat simple breakfast comprises of eggs cooked in different styles, sandwiches, porridge cornflakes with a glass of milk but on the other hand, desi people’s desi tummy loves to have desi breakfast that is of anda (egg), parhata (bread) with fresh butter or honey spread on it, hot halwa pori with a glass of lassi or milk. However,  most of the desi people like to eat dinner items in breakfast which is actually a good practice as in morning, we keep in action therefore the food digest easily where else, when we take such heavy items in late night dinner, it takes time to digest as a result we suffer from indigestion and other stomach problems.

Breakfast without tea is like a dinner without a sweet dish. More or less all Pakistanis are fond of tea. Having a hot cup of tea or coffee in the morning is very necessary for charging up. Along with tea and coffee, milk and juices are also consumed in breakfast again both are the combo of energy.

Breakfast is the most basic right of your body so don't try to deprive it.  Skipping breakfast will result in body weakness. There is a famous saying “Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dine like a pauper” so follow this quote and have a healthy mind in a healthy body.

“Ali…!” Ali’s mother shouted. “Once again you are failed in 4 subjects! This is the third time you have given a poor result. You are such a non-serious student” Ali’s mother scolded him for the bad result. While Ali was looking down to the ground with tear filled eyes. His eyes were filled with disappointment. Do you also hear such remarks from your parents for bad results? Yes or no? If no than very good keep it up with good grades, make your parents more proud. But if your answer is yes than its time to wipe out your tears because I am going to share some tips, by following them you can achieve good grades in future.

1.      Make a to-do list:

To do list, schedule or timetable is very important not only in school life but in professional life also. A person, who follows time table or to-do list, doesn’t face failure. Take out a pen and paper and write your daily routine on it. First write; your wake up time suppose it’s 6:45 am, now move further write total time you spend in school suppose it’s from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Now write your nap time; than write your playing time because playing is very important but focus on games that you can play physically, in order to keep your body healthy, wealthy and smart. The playing time may include your TV watching time also. After all the fun activities; its time to do some study, give at least 3 to 4 hours for study. In start, it’s difficult to give 4 hours so try to give at least 2 hours to study and don’t forget to mark the work on list that you have done.

2.     Learn lesson on daily basis:

Many of you got shocked, for giving 3 to 4 hours to study, it is because after completion of homework, start learning the work that your teacher taught you in class. Try to learn daily work on daily basis by doing so the lecture will remain fresh in your mind hence, you can learn it well.

3.      Make key words:

As you all know “key” is the main thing to open a door. So here keywords are the words that will unlock your memory and help you to untangle the riddles of your mind. Some times keywords can be key sentences also. So set some keywords according to your feasibility.  Key words or key sentences must be like, when you remember the keyword or sentences whole paragraph come in your mind.

 4.      Concentration:

Everything in the world needs concentration. It’s the main essence for good grades. If you are playing a game than with concentration you can cross the level more fastly and efficiently. Same as this, most of us watch movies twice or thrice, to the extent that we learns movie by heart, we can tell the story to anyone verbally and with dialogues. It’s because we watch it with full concentration so do learn your lessons as dialogues of your favorite movie with full concentration. 

5.      Try to understand the lesson:

Most of the students try to learn the lesson by heart they don’t bother to understand it. Sometimes they don’t actually know what they are learning. Study is not about learning by heart, it’s all about gaining knowledge. Try to extract the main concept of your lesson, understand it than you don’t have to learn it because it will automatically stick to your mind.

6.      Don’t panic:

Many of students take study as a giant monster that has wrinkled face and big dark teeth. It’s not like that study is as difficult as you assume it and it’s as simple as you can make it.  So make it essay by considering it as a fairy with soft skin and pink wings, which will takes you in fairy land. Believe in your self don’t panic.

These were the main power points for better result, if you will follow them than you can achieve good grades and better results. In start, everything is difficult, its human nature but when we practice it, it’s become habitual so make these golden points your habit. Than I am sure, high grades will chase you.

Nature has given us many wonders some are man made and some are natural. Man has tried and trying to make out of the box wonders through their innovation but man can never beat nature. Natural wonders include desserts, forests, rivers, oceans etc. By hearing the word dessert dry golden sand and hot climate strikes the mind which is actually true. Pakistan is also blessed with this gift of nature. We have Cholistan, Indus Valley, Kharan, Thal, and Thar Desert present in different parts of Pakistan but Sahara Desert is the largest desert in the world.

It is present in the continent of Africa covering almost eleven countries, fully or partially desert. It includes countries: Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Sudan, Tunisia etc. Being the largest hot desert in the world, Sahara Desert is spread over an area of more than 9,000,000 sq km. In terms of area, it can be say that Sahara desert is equivalent to the continent of America. From north to south the Sahara is between 800 and 1,200 miles and is at least 3,000 miles (4,800 km) from east to west. The desert divides the continent of Africa into two parts - North and Sub-Saharan Africa.. On the west, the Sahara is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and on the east by the Red Sea, and to the north are the Atlas Mountains and Mediterranean Sea. The Sahara is one of the hottest places on Earth. Its temperature may rise to 136 F (57.7 C). On the other hand Antarctica is considered as the ice dessert.

Nature ha splashed its colors every where. It’s a general perception that a dessert is hot and dry so living things can’t live there but plants have the courage to stand bravely in such heat. These plants are very specially. It includes:

Orange trees: Most people associate oranges with California or Florida. But the hot and dry regions of the Sahara also give rise to orange trees, particularly along the Nile River, and other oasis spots in the desert.

Herbs: One of the most popular herbs in American kitchens is thyme. However thyme is very important ingredient of our food also as our pizzas are incomplete with this herb.  Many Sahara residents grow thyme in their gardens to spice up their food.

Fig trees: It’s almost hard to believe that delicious, moist figs grow in the harsh climate of the Sahara, but figs have been a staple of the Sahara diet for centuries.

Magaria: These light brown fruits are roughly the size of a cherry. The people who live in Sahara region use dry magaria to make cakes.

Olive trees: Olive is the speciality of Sahara dessert. It is one a beauty secret to have a healthy, shiny and beautiful skin. Olives or olive oil is almost present in everyone’s house. As it’s the main ingredient to cook food and to garnish pizzas.

However cactus tree is the main charm of any dessert.

Sahara dessert is also rich in animals. Wildlife of Sahara dessert is very attractive. A long with the plants there are many animals that are committed to Sahara dessert. It includes animals:

Camels: When one says the word 'desert', first golden and dry sand strikes the mind and second word that comes to our mind is 'camel'. Camels are usually associated with desserts because they are tall and can store liters of water inside them. There are two major types of camels found in the world, Bactrian and Dromedary camels. The Dromedary camel, which is said to be of Arabian Origin, is the main Saharan camel.Camels is domestic animals and residents of Sahara use them for their domestic purposes.

Addax Antelope: Addax Antelope is one of the most beautiful animals in the world. But unfortunately this animal is the most hunted animal around the world. Therefore they are rare. Antelopes are flat-footed antelopes that can easily traverse the sandy landscape of the Sahara. The Addax Antelope is classified as an endangered animal.

Ostrich:  Ostriches are the largest birds in the world and different breeds of ostriches are found in various parts of the Sahara desert. An average ostrich can run at 40 miles per hour.

Goats: Goats are found almost everywhere in the world, so as in Sahara desert Goats are popularly domesticated by the Saharan people along with camels. Goats are mainly domesticated for their milk but are sometimes used to carry goods.

Dorcas Gazelle: The Dorcas Gazelle is another exceptionally beautiful animal found in the Sahara. It is the most common species of gazelle and stands up to 65 cm tall and weighs around 25 kg. It is also known as the Ariel Gazelle.

Death stalker Scorpion: Scorpions are another breed of animals that are commonly found in desert areas.  the death stalker scorpion is the native scorpion of the Sahara Desert. It can grow up to 10 cm long and although toxic, its venom is not very fatal.

Monitor lizard: The monitor lizard is another native of the Sahara Desert as it stands on its two hind legs and appears to be monitoring the surroundings.

Sand Vipers: Sand Vipers can grow up to 50 cm in length. They venture out only during the night, and usually bury themselves in the sand during the day. Their bites too are rarely fatal.

God can puff life into a dead creature so having life in dessert is not a big deal. Sahara is the hottest dessert of the world. We people from Pakistan can’t survive in it but people who lives there are habitual of this atmosphere and their bodies are ready to face harsh temperatures whether they are residents of Sahara or plants and animals of the desert.

Ten things for happy life

1) No one is incharge of your happiness except YOU so believe in yourself. Work hard to get good remarks and praise that will make YOU happy! Moreover, do some social work because it will gives you inner satisfaction and happiness.

2) What other people think of you is none of your business. Let the people say what they want to say, turn deaf ears to them. Jealousy and envy surrounds everybody but do listen to your parents and family members as they are your well-wishers.

3) No matter how good or bad situation is, it will change. Just keep this phrase in mind "the time will pass" , ye waqt guzer jaye ga. In happy and sad moments. Both are the part of our life but don't be remain sad in bad situations. If its bad today, tomorrow good news is coming towards YOU.

4) Your job won't take care of you when your are sick but your friends will so stay in touch with them as they are your real assets. Don't keep yourself busy and busy all the time. Yup no doubt work comes first but you are nothing without your friends and family. so stay in touch and give them time.

5) No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up. There are 50% people in the world who are happy on your failure. They celebrate your disasters. Don't give any chance of celebration to such people but speak out in front of your friends and well-wishers as they will cure all your disappoinments, failure and depression.

6) Life is to short to waste time in hating anyone. Don't hate others just kicked out the word HATE fron your dictionary. Dilute the feeling of hate by the flowers of patience and LOVE. Before hating someone just look at your self no one is Angel here!

7) Excessiveness of any thing is not good. For example, overeating will affect your stomach. Don't over do. Keep your limits. Limits are the border line. if you cross the limits then you are fully aware with the consequences. Try to set limits for everything and stop people at the borderline when they are about to cross the limits.

8) Every one is fully aware with the pros and cons of the task he is going to do, so do right things for the right results.

9) Life is a long journey and the best is yet to come.

A visit to Bookistan

“And the first position goes to Fahad Khan”, teacher announced while students were clapping, Fahad came forward and took the report card from teacher with a happy face and moved towards his best friend Maaz who was failed in two papers as always.

““Congratulations Mr. Nerd!” Maaz wished Fahad. “Thanks bud” Fahad murmured. “What’s happen to you?” Maaz asked. “You are failed in two papers, Maaz be serious with your studies. This is your high time…” Fahad was replying Maaz interrupted him. “Common Fadi…I write every answer correct in the paper but the teacher doesn’t have the caliber to understand my answers. Poor she!” said Maaz proudly. “Yeah yeah Mr. Einstein…Lets go. I’ve to buy some books on the way to home.” said Fahad. “Books…?? No not again!!” said Maaz with a peevish face. On the way to Book stall, Maaz asked, “So dude where the party is tonight?” “No party tonight. I am going to my Grandma’s house.” Fahad replied while moving towards the book stall. “Okay man the treat is due on you”, said Maaz. Fahad was fond of books at the time he was looking the books, Maaz was whistling. He stooped whistle when a golden cover book caught his eyes as he started moving towards the book. The book became more and more glorious as if it was calling Maaz come towards me! Fahad’s attention diverted by Maaz’s footsteps as Maaz moved his hand to pick up the book Fahad picked it first “Ahan what a lucky book you are, what’s your name?”Bookistan” nice name “, Fahad addressed the book. “Mr. Cool dude wants to read you. There must be something special in you”, Fahad added while he was scanning the book. “Maaz this book is not for you”, said Fahad with a clever smile. “May I ask why?” asked Maaz. “It's contained all our course exercises. It’s a combo of math, chemistry, physics exercises and vice versa.” said Fahad but Maaz eyes were sticked to the book. The book had a very strong influence on Maaz’s heart while staring the cover he said, “I want to buy it”. “Really…?? Great buddy! It’s a gift from me to you”: said Fahad with a friendly smile. Maaz checked time and said, “Thanks bud, It’s too late now let’s go home.”

            At night Maaz was sleeping on his bed. He woke up by some unpleasant noises as if many people were talking loudly. He nervously looked here and there to found out the people but no one was in the room. Suddenly, the golden pages of the book got his sleepy eyes in which lots of rabbits were talking. Maaz rubbed his sleepy eyes. He thought as if he was in a dream but the scene didn’t change. He moved towards the book as he put the book in front of his eyes, the book pulled him inside. Maaz was very nervous. He was looking here and there to recognize the place until a rabbit came close to him “welcome in “Bookistan” the world of rabbits” rabbit greeted Maaz. “How can you speak? Umm...Umm…you are a rabbit”, astonish Maaz asked, with in a second many rabbits encircled him and said, “We all can speak…ha…ha…ha” Maaz got very scared “I want to go back…I want to go home…Mom…Mom…help me!!”, scared Maaz said. “you want to go home?” rabbit asked, Maaz moved his neck positively “Alright my boy then you have to solve all the exercises of this book to reach the last chapter that is your exist and for every wrong answer your one humanly organ turn into rabbit’s organ and If all answers are wrong then you will become a rabbit like us and will remain in Bookistan for life time ha…ha…ha” said rabbit while laughing wildly. Maaz cried a lot till he ran out of his breath but he gather all his scattered spirits and emotions and decided to solve the exercises. He moved towards math section and failed to solve the sums as a result his ears turn into rabbit’s ears and a tail also came out. He stopped solving the exercises and started crying again but no one was there to hear his painful cry.

            Next morning Fahad went to Maaz’s house. “Maaz good morning where are you?” Fahad shouted in his room but no reply came from Maaz. Suddenly Fahad eyes caught into the golden pages of the book. He turned the pages and found Maaz crying inside the book, with a blink of an eye the book pulled him inside. Fahad was a wise and smart boy; he has watched and read many mysterious stories and movies. Fahad without wasting anytime move towards Maaz. “Maaz my friend” said Fahad. Maaz stood up and ran towards Fahad and hugged him “Thank God you are here!” “What happen to your ears…O my God you also have a tail…what happen to you?” astonished Fahad asked. Maaz told him that we are in Bookistan. He further told him about the rules and regulations of that world. Fahad decided to solve the exercises as soon as he corrected the wrong questions Maaz started turning in human form... Fahad successfully solved all the math exercises and moved towards chemistry section. At one formula Fahad got confused. ”wha...wha…what happen Fadi, why do you stop? Solve it”, Maaz stammered. “I am trying to memorize the formula. I remember, sir Minhaj has taught us in class. Do you remember?” Fahad asked, Maaz turned his neck down with shame. “Oh! Don’t be sad. I am trying” said Fahad. At this moment, Maaz promised to God “If we successfully made it to move out from this world, I’ll concentrate on my studies.” “Eureka! I got the answer” said Fahad in happy tone. Fahad put all the right answers and completed all the exercises.
